Public Notice: Board Meetings and Bridge Inspections Scheduled for Feb. 25

Public Meetings and Hearings
Two significant public meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as part of the city's ongoing commitment to transparent governance. The Louisville Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) will host a special Board of Directors virtual meeting starting at 2:00 p.m. This session is designated for the review of development agendas and alliance strategy. Additionally, the Cherokee Triangle Architectural Review Committee (ARC) will convene for an in-person session at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Metro Development Center, located at 444 S. 5th Street, specifically to review neighborhood design proposals.
Public Health Advisory: Seasonal Virus Surge
The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness has issued a formal advisory following a notable increase in respiratory illnesses across Jefferson County. Surveillance data confirms that seasonal influenza cases have surpassed 1,300 this season. Health officials are also tracking a rise in pertussis (whooping cough) and RSV infections. Residents are urged to remain up to date with vaccinations and practice preventive hygiene. Those exhibiting symptoms are advised to stay home, while masking is recommended in high-traffic congregate settings such as schools and long-term care facilities to mitigate community spread.
Infrastructure and Traffic Impacts
Several significant traffic modifications and infrastructure projects are active today, requiring residents to plan for potential delays:
- I-64 Bridge Inspections: Daily alternating lane closures will occur on I-64 East and West between the 22nd Street interchange and the I-264 interchange (mile points 1.5 to 2.0). These inspections run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., beginning today through Friday, February 27.
- Overnight I-64 Closures: Motorists should prepare for overnight left-lane closures on I-64 East and West between mile markers 53 and 58. Crews will be conducting storm drain cleaning from 7:00 p.m. tonight through 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
- Long-term Closures: Rudy Lane remains closed to all traffic between Brownsboro Road and Merrifield Road for a water main relocation project. Similarly, Mockingbird Valley Road and Edith Road remain closed for I-71 overpass bridge reconstruction.
Public Comment Opportunity
Louisville Metro Government is currently seeking public input regarding the "Motorworks" residential project at 410 W. Broadway. This development involves the construction of new housing units utilizing federal Public Housing Project-Based Vouchers. The environmental review record is available for public inspection, and written comments regarding the project’s environmental impact will be accepted through March 1, 2026.
