What is known about the shooting and the investigation

A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the Jan. 4, 2026 shooting inside Lenny’s Lounge in Louisville’s Klondike neighborhood, an incident that left four people wounded and triggered a parallel set of enforcement actions involving the business.

Police were called to the lounge in the 3700 block of Klondike Lane at about 5:32 a.m. on Jan. 4. Officers arrived to what authorities described as a chaotic scene, locating at least two victims with gunshot wounds. Those victims were transported for treatment at University of Louisville Hospital. Two additional victims who were shot inside the lounge initially went to other hospitals by private vehicle before being redirected for treatment at UofL Hospital.

The four victims ranged in age from 17 to 21. At the time of the incident, one victim was reported to be in critical condition. Police have not publicly provided detailed updates on the conditions of the other three victims.

Charges already filed, and what remains unresolved

The criminal case linked to the shooting has already produced charges against an adult suspect. Ezekiel Dean, 32, was arrested Jan. 19, 2026, and charged with three counts of first-degree assault and one count of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. A judge set bond at $250,000 full cash.

Even as those charges moved forward, investigators signaled that not every aspect of the incident had been fully accounted for in the earliest charging documents. Court records tied to the assault case listed three victims, while police had publicly stated four people were shot. Police described the scene as complex, with numerous casings and projectiles recovered, and said work continued to clarify the full sequence of events.

Business fallout and separate arrest involving the lounge owner

The shooting also brought scrutiny to the lounge’s operations. Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control opened an emergency suspension investigation and paused alcohol sales at the location the day after the shooting. The business later ceased operations after the landlord terminated the lease, and ABC cited multiple violations that were referred to code enforcement.

In a separate matter, the lounge’s owner, James Conner, 39, was arrested following the shooting on an allegation that he violated a domestic violence order that barred him from possessing a firearm. Police stated that charge was unrelated to the shooting itself.
