Waste Management: Seasonal Yard Waste Collection Pause
Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management Services has announced a scheduled seasonal pause for curbside yard waste collection beginning the week of Monday, January 19, 2026. This adjustment allows the department to reallocate resources more effectively during the winter months when yard waste generation is at its lowest. Regular curbside pickup is slated to resume the week of March 23. During this period, Jefferson County residents may continue to drop off bundled yard waste free of charge at the Waste Reduction Center located at 636 Meriwether Avenue.
Public Health Advisory: Respiratory Virus Season
The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness has issued a health advisory reminding residents to remain vigilant during the peak of the respiratory virus season. With flu and COVID-19 cases circulating, health officials strongly urge individuals to verify their vaccination status. Residents can access official immunization records through the Kentucky Immunization Registry or by contacting their primary healthcare providers. The department continues to offer routine vaccinations at its immunization clinics for eligible residents ages two months and older.
