Public Notice Roundup: Winter Health Alerts and Infrastructure Advisories

Official City Notices for Sunday, February 1, 2026
As we begin the month of February, Louisville Metro Government and various state agencies have several active notices regarding public health, infrastructure maintenance, and opportunities for civic participation. Residents are encouraged to review these updates to stay informed about local developments and service changes.
Public Health Advisory: Respiratory Virus Season
The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness has issued a high-level advisory following the latest data from the city’s respiratory virus surveillance dashboard. As of today, the city has recorded more than 1,364 confirmed cases of influenza since late September. Health officials are also tracking a steady rise in COVID-19 and pertussis (whooping cough) cases, particularly within residential congregate settings such as schools and long-term care facilities. The department strongly encourages residents to stay up to date with vaccinations, including the flu and COVID-19 shots, which remain available at local clinics. Health officials emphasize that while symptoms may initially resemble a common cold, these illnesses can become life-threatening for infants and the elderly.
Infrastructure Alert: Major Road Closures and Construction
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and Louisville Metro Public Works have announced several active roadwork projects and closures scheduled for the week of February 1:
- Blevins Gap Road: A significant portion of Blevins Gap Road near Saw Mill Road remains closed for a critical culvert replacement project. This closure is expected to last through March 27, 2026. Through traffic is being detoured via the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265).
- Chenoweth Lane (KY 1932): Motorists should expect daily and nightly lane closures between Shelbyville Road and Brownsboro Road. Ongoing reconstruction includes roadway modifications and sidewalk improvements designed to enhance pedestrian safety.
- Billtown Road (KY 1819): Major reconstruction continues from North of Colonnades Place to south of Easum Road. This project involves signal optimization and the addition of new turn lanes, with completion anticipated by late spring.
- I-65 Maintenance: Maintenance crews are active along the I-65 Central Corridor performing pothole patching and drain cleaning during non-peak hours. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and obey all work zone speed limits.
Final Call: Freight Mobility Action Plan Survey
Today, February 1, marks the final day for residents to provide feedback on the city’s Freight Mobility Action Plan. The Louisville Metro Department of Transportation is seeking input regarding the impact of large truck traffic on residential neighborhoods, specifically concerning safety, noise, and infrastructure wear. Public feedback gathered through this survey will help shape future truck routes and mitigate disruptions across the Metro area.
Public Hearings and Grant Opportunities
The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (APCD) has published a notice for a public hearing scheduled for February 18, 2026. The hearing will address proposed amendments to Regulation 2.08 regarding source fees. Written comments on these changes will be accepted through February 17. Additionally, local non-profit organizations are reminded that applications for the Fiscal Year 2027 External Agency Fund (EAF) are now open. These grants support programs aligned with city goals for safe and healthy streets. The application deadline is February 24, 2026.
