Metro Council and Committee Meetings
The Louisville Metro Council and associated committees have several sessions scheduled for Thursday, February 12, 2026. Residents are encouraged to participate in the local legislative process through the following meetings:

Public Health Advisory: Seasonal Respiratory Virus Surge
The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness has issued a formal advisory regarding a significant rise in respiratory illnesses across Jefferson County. Surveillance data indicates that confirmed influenza cases have exceeded 1,300 this season, with concurrent increases in pertussis (whooping cough) and RSV infections. Health officials recommend that residents stay up to date on vaccinations and practice preventive measures, such as masking in high-traffic congregate settings and staying home when symptomatic, to mitigate further community spread.
Infrastructure and Traffic Notifications
Several significant road projects are impacting travel today. Motorists should plan for the following closures:
- Blevins Gap Road: A portion of the roadway near Saw Mill Road remains closed for a culvert replacement project. Local access is maintained from Dixie Highway and Stonestreet Road, but through-traffic is prohibited.
- I-65 and I-264 (Watterson Expressway): Overnight ramp and lane closures are in effect as part of the I-65 Central Corridor project. Drivers should expect delays and follow posted detour signs near the I-65 and I-264 interchange.
- Winter Weather Impacts: Due to recent snow and ice, the NuLu bike lanes from 400 to 1000 East Market Street and segments of Baxter Avenue remain closed until further notice to ensure public safety.
Public Deadlines and Grant Opportunities
Today, February 12, marks the final deadline for submitting formal written protests regarding several new alcoholic beverage licenses, including the application for Triple Stallion Liquors on East Lee Street. Protests must be filed with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Additionally, Louisville Metro Government is currently accepting applications for the Fiscal Year 2027 External Agency Fund (EAF) and HUD grants, including CDBG and Emergency Solutions Grants. Non-profit organizations must submit their final proposals through the Metro grant portal by February 24, 2026.
