Road impacts expected early Saturday as Louisville Triple Crown of Running continues

A series of downtown Louisville street closures is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026, to support the Derby City 10K, a race that is part of the Louisville Triple Crown of Running schedule. The event is expected to affect morning traffic patterns in the central business district and nearby corridors leading toward Louisville Slugger Field, where race activities are centered.

Closures are timed in phases, beginning before sunrise with an expanded footprint for race setup and staging, then tightening to a defined course closure window during the run itself. In addition to full closures, curbside access will be restricted in multiple areas because of no-parking enforcement along the course.

Street closures scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026

Streets are scheduled to close during the following time blocks:

  • 4 a.m. to noon

    • East Main Street, from Hancock Street to Floyd Street
    • Preston Street, from Main Street to Witherspoon Street
    • East Washington Street, from Floyd Street to Preston Street
  • 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

    • Main Street, from South Floyd Street to South 8th Street
    • 5th Street, from Main Street to Chestnut Street
    • Chestnut Street, from 5th Street to 7th Street
    • 7th Street, from Chestnut Street to Magazine Street
    • Magazine Street, from 7th Street to 8th Street
    • 8th Street, from Magazine Street to Liberty Street
    • 8th Street, from Market Street to Main Street
    • Liberty Street, from 8th Street to 5th Street
    • Market Street, from 5th Street to 8th Street
    • Floyd Street, from Main Street to Washington Street
    • Witherspoon Street, from Preston Street to Adams Street
    • Adams Street, from Witherspoon Street to Quincy Street

No-parking enforcement zones

No-parking areas are scheduled from 1 a.m. to noon on streets listed in the 4 a.m. to noon block and the 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. block, including East Main Street (Hancock to Floyd), Preston Street (Main to Witherspoon), East Washington Street (Floyd to Preston), and the downtown grid segments of Main, Market, Liberty, 5th, 7th, 8th, Magazine, Floyd, Witherspoon, and Adams within the ranges described above.

Drivers should expect the most concentrated disruptions during the 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. course-closure window, when multiple east-west and north-south routes through downtown are scheduled to be fully closed.

What this means for drivers and downtown access

The closure footprint includes major downtown connectors such as Main Street and Market Street between 5th and 8th streets, along with several cross streets that typically provide access between the central business district and adjacent neighborhoods. Motorists traveling into or across downtown Saturday morning should anticipate detours, limited curb access, and delays near the Slugger Field area and along the listed corridors until streets reopen.
