Louisville beats Nebraska 4-2 at Globe Life Field to open Amegy Bank College Baseball Series

Cardinals rally late, bullpen closes in neutral-site matchup in Arlington, Texas

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville opened play in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series with a 4-2 win over Nebraska on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The result moved Louisville to 3-2 on the season and dropped Nebraska to 3-2.

The game turned in the middle innings, when Louisville overcame an early deficit with a three-run sixth and then added insurance in the seventh. Nebraska’s two runs came on an RBI single in the third inning and a solo home run in the fifth.

How Louisville built the comeback

Louisville trailed by two before taking control in the sixth. The Cardinals scored their first run when Kade Elam came home on a throwing error. Two batters later, outfielder Griffin Crain delivered a two-run ground-rule double to give Louisville a 3-2 lead. In the seventh, first baseman Tague Davis extended the margin with a solo home run measured at 374 feet.

  • Key Louisville hitters: Griffin Crain (2-for-2, two RBIs, double, walk) and Tague Davis (home run, RBI, walk).
  • Louisville finished with eight hits and received at least one hit from seven starters.

While Louisville produced timely extra-base hits after a quiet start, the Cardinals also left opportunities early, going hitless in their first nine at-bats with runners on base and finishing 3-for-16 with runners aboard.

Pitching decisions and late-inning control

Left-hander Ethan Eberle started for Louisville and worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Eberle repeatedly pitched through traffic, with Nebraska placing a runner in scoring position in each inning he completed, but Louisville limited damage to single runs in the third and fifth.

Louisville’s bullpen preserved the lead over the final 3 1/3 innings. Right-hander Jack Brown covered 2 1/3 scoreless innings, and left-hander Aaron England finished the ninth to earn his first career save.

Series context and what’s next
