Lane Closures Scheduled for I-64 Inspections and Bridge Maintenance This Thursday

Louisville drivers should prepare for a mix of scheduled maintenance and specialized bridge inspections that will impact several major corridors today, Thursday, February 26, 2026. While the morning rush hour is expected to remain largely clear of major incidents, mid-day travelers on I-64 and those crossing the Lewis and Clark Bridge should anticipate intermittent delays due to lane restrictions and mobile work zones.

Major Arteries and Interstate Alerts

The most significant impact today involves in-depth bridge inspections on I-64. Motorists traveling both eastbound and westbound between mile points 1.5 and 2.0—the stretch between the 22nd Street interchange and the I-64/I-264 interchange—should expect daily lane closures. These inspections are scheduled to occur between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. through Friday. Maintenance crews recommend allowing extra travel time when moving through this segment of the West End.

Additionally, overnight commuters on I-64 East and West between mile markers 53 and 58 should be aware of ongoing drain cleaning operations. The left lanes in this area will be closed starting at 7:00 p.m. tonight and will remain restricted until 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. These operations are part of a multi-night maintenance push to ensure proper roadway drainage following recent winter weather.

Bridge Maintenance: Lewis and Clark Bridge

For those crossing between Kentucky and Indiana via the East End, maintenance crews will be active on the Lewis and Clark Bridge today. Mobile closures will be in place for bridge joint cleaning in both the northbound and southbound lanes. These closures will affect the left and right shoulders between Indiana mile marker 12.7 and Kentucky mile marker 38.5. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and move over for maintenance vehicles operating in these mobile zones.

• Chenoweth Lane (KY 1932): Intermittent lane closures are expected between Shelbyville Road and Brownsboro Road from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for ongoing roadway modifications and drainage improvements.
