The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Residents are advised that dangerously low temperatures and wind chills as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit are expected. These conditions pose a significant risk of frostbite and hypothermia within minutes of exposure.

  • Warming Centers: Temporary daytime warming centers are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Exodus Family Ministries (4205 Cane Run Road) and Hope Rescued (2833 Garfield Ave).
  • Home Safety: Louisville Water Company recommends that residents take immediate precautions to protect internal plumbing, including dripping faucets and ensuring pipes in unheated areas are insulated.
  • Pet Safety: Local authorities remind residents to bring all pets indoors and provide adequate shelter for livestock.

Louisville Metro Council Committee Meetings
